Artenschutz durch umweltverträgliche Beleuchtung

Environmentally friendly lighting and traffic safety are two aspects of outdoor lighting that at first glance seem to contradict each other. The project `Species Protection through Environmentally Friendly Lighting` can take a closer look at the fact that this does not have to be the case. Through the participation of researchers from the IGB and the TU Berlin, interdisciplinary knowledge from the fields of biology, agriculture, ecology and lighting technology can flow together, so that in the end a scientifically supported decision-making aid for outdoor lighting is available. Therefore, the attraction of light to insects from luminous intensity distributions of ordinary luminaires, like the ones of the four project regions will be compared to the highly restricted luminous intensity distribution of the new developed luminaires. The physical limits of insect friendly luminaires will be examined and analyzed with LightTools.
