A weak grid can lead to new problems for design of this power converter system.The unbalanced operating conditions occur in the converter system. They can cause harmonics both on the AC side and the DC side of the converter system. Such harmonics not only deteriorate the performance of the system but also increase the stress on the DC link capacitor.A weak power grid can intensify the influences of the unbalanced operating condition in the converter system. Therefore, in this dissertation a new control for the converter system is proposed under unbalanced operating condition, in order to eliminate these harmonics, thus decrease the size of DC link capacitor.Furthermore, the influences of the unbalanced condition should be considered to dimension the semiconductor and the DC link capacitor in the converter system. The analysis results are compared with that under balanced condition.In practical applications several converters are connected in parallel to a weak grid. Here the converters could influence mutually. In this work the dynamic interaction of the converters is in detail analyzed.
